Your Role

We are looking for an energetic and process-driven Purchasing & R&D Controller to join our HQ Finance Team at Technogym Village (Cesena, Italy). You will report to the Industrial Controller and support operations through proactive steering and control of the business.

You will act as a trustworthy Finance Business Partner and provide financial insight to help guide the Technogym strategy and enable business leaders to make the smartest short and long-term decisions.

As the Purchasing & R&D Controller, your ultimate mission—and daily obsession—is relentless product cost reduction. You will not just track numbers; you will be the primary driver of profitability, actively challenging cost structures and leading the charge to strip out waste, optimize margins, and ensure our products are designed and sourced at the absolute best cost-to-value ratio.

Your Impact

  • Act as the internal champion and catalyst for continuous product cost optimization. You will systematically dissect product cost structures, challenge historical cost baselines, and drive cross-functional "cost-out" initiatives with R&D and Purchasing to aggressively strip out unnecessary costs from both legacy and next-generation products.
  • Partner with R&D and Engineering during the early design phases to implement target costing, analyze the Bill of Materials (BOM), and ensure new products meet target margins before they ever hit the production line
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Procurement team to analyze supplier cost breakdown sheets, track Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and identify "make-or-buy" opportunities, providing the exact financial data needed to win tough supplier negotiations
  • Develop, track, and report on high-impact KPIs (such as Direct Material price variance , sourcing cost savings, and project R&D ROI), delivering actionable insights that empower R&D and Procurement directors to make strategic decisions.
  • Monitor R&D project budgets, track development milestones, and evaluate CAPEX investments with a sharp focus on maximizing return on investment and avoiding budget overruns
  • Lead project management (PM) activities, ensuring the progress of underlying projects through to-do list follow-ups, gap analysis, problem-solving, and recovery planning.

About You

Ideally, you are passionate about working out, enthusiastic and proactive, while also down-to-earth and ethical.

What you should bring:

  •  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering Management, or equivalent field
  • +10 years of relevant experience in product cost reduction, financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Strong capability in analyzing Bill of Materials (BOM), calculating product manufacturing costs, and executing target costing methodologies.
  • Understanding of procurement dynamics, including tracking Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and evaluating raw material indexations and supplier cost breakdown sheets
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for financial management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for data visualization and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and cost accounting to analyze financial metrics and KPIs.
  • Project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana) for tracking project progress and managing tasks.
